Welcome back!

Has it been a decade or three since you played music? Never fear! You'll remember all those old skills pretty quickly, and with some help, you might even dump bad habits you learned way back then, and instill some fresh ones (not fresh bad ones, fresh good ones).
More and more research is showing us that learning and neuron growth happens all the way along our life journey. Don't believe the propaganda and ageism that you're too old, too slow, or it's too late. You're not; and it's not too late. Never is.

Whatever you play, I'll help you get back into the swing of things. It's a bit of an intentional pun, because I use classic jazz melodies and others to help you get back in playing shape: jazz standards, pop standards, rock, and whatever else you want to learn. None of that boring old Go Tell Aunt Rhodie nonsense. You'll have a lot more fun with Moondance, or Summertime, or even something fun like the 80s hit, Tainted Love (first recorded in '64).
Or better yet, bring your own favorite song and we'll learn it together.

Here are a few of the things we'll get you going on again:
- exploration of sound using the instrument. NO reading music
- A no-fear, no pressure exploration of imitation, imagination, and improvisation
- AND a jumpstart to re-boot your music-reading chops, if you'd like. A free book, too.
- tone production and quality
- including breath and tongue use (for wind instruments), posture, etc.
- instrument technique reminders
- Practice and improvement tips, tricks, and mindsets
- includes making practice fun and useful
- goal setting (and achieving)
- instrument-specific strategies
- Performance opportunities (if desired)
- Networking with other returning players looking for duet/trio/quartet players with whom to make music.
